Journey of my Motherhood ~ in a special way

"Do you want to become a mother or want a biological child only?" said the Dr. To this statement the first thing that ran into my mind was the word "Mum" only. And I responded the Dr with the first option. And with this started my journey of willing to become a mother. It was 13th April 2017 that I and my husband got ourselves registered in CARA ( Central Adoption Resource Authority) and started dreaming about our child.

The duration was for almost around two years that we had to wait and this journey was quite exciting for us. All our close friends, family members, and relatives were our support system and they helped us in believing ourselves and patient. With days and months, the serial number started to reduce and we got much closer to our dream. Both sets of parents were super excited and waiting to welcome their grandchild. They even arranged a special baby shower for the would-be parents. We were showered with love and blessings from everyone we knew and we felt so so happy about our decision.

It was on the day of Bengali dol Purnima and I was having my regular office day. Suddenly my phone vibrated and a text message was received from CARA. I was super excited and my hands started trembling while I opened the text. I logged in to my dashboard and I saw my princess..my Lil angel smiling at me.she was just 4 months few days old with big eyes with a spark telling me that " Mumma here I come for you". Tears rolled down my eyes while seeing her picture. I shared the good news with my husband and we completed all the necessary formalities. Everything was set and we had our travel booked. It was 31st March that we went and on 1st April when everyone was making pranks on others and it was one of the memorable days of my life. We were about to become parents. We hold her hand and she smiled back to us. It was a heavenly feeling and thus the name Suryasmita Sengupta ( smile like sun rays). We spent the rest of the day doing the formalities and knowing more about our princess. We had carried all her essentials and we set to take her home. Everyone back at home was eagerly waiting for one picture of her but we were so busy with her that we could not take a snap.

The 1st April night was the longest night ever since I met my angel. We didn't take her custody on 1st of April, instead, we thought of allowing her to stay one more night with all those people who had taken care of her till then.
She was such a happy and active child that everyone started missing her already. But the thought of she getting her parent made them forget their sadness.

On 2nd April 2019, she was all ours, we had booked a spacious car and we started our journey back home to her home at Asansol. It should be her starting point after all as her babai belongs to that place. It took around 3 hours to reach and to my surprise, the home was decorated and her Thammi along with other neighbors were waiting to welcome the newest and the youngest member of the family. We were welcomed and she was put in the arms of her Thammi ( grandmother). She was so glad and happy to get her home after a long wait. Here back in Kolkata my parents and relatives were getting impatient with every day passing by.

On 7th April we came back to Kolkata and we were welcomed in a grand way here also. In this way, my motherhood started and its been almost 6months that Aumi "her pet name" is with us and we are having a wonderful life.
I hope this read will help you to visualize how happy and emotional journey it had been for me and I am blessed to have Aumi as my daughter. She completes my motherhood.
